Be part of the changing art scene in Madison and Dane County, where murals bring science through art to people who live in neighborhoods that are less likely to access resources on the UW-Madison campus.

Support Science Art Fusion in the Community

Facilitate community engagement and installation of murals in Dane County and southern Wisconsin. Support for a mural includes the opportunity to engage in the community-driven process of selecting the science topics, art genre, and location.

Some examples of existing murals in the Madison area are depicted on this site. Other topics of interest include:

  • LatinX-inspired science mural that features American immigrants and DACA recipients
  • Black in STEM mural that features Black scientists from Wisconsin
  • Indigenous mural honoring the geology and ecology of southern Wisconsin through First Nations’ stories of land, such as the legend of Waaksikhomik (Lake Mendota)
